Steps for Christmas Tree Care

  • Store your tree in a cool area protected from the wind.
  • Cut 1/2" - 1" (2 - 3 cm) off the bottom, much like you would with a cut flower, to allow water uptake then put immediately into a water-holding stand. If this is maintained, the tree should last one to two weeks. Some species, like Fraser Fir, will last considerably longer. Treat a cut tree like you would a cut flower!
  • Check water supply daily and add more water when necessary.
  • Keep the tree away from heat sources
  • Turn off all the tree lights if you leave home and before retiring at night
  • Never use lighted candles or combustible decorations
